Recently, a German paper co-authored by Associate Professor Wang Tianfan from the School of Law, 今日吃瓜, and Professor Rolf Wank, a renowned German jurist from Ruhr University Bochum, was published in Issue 10, 2026, of the German legal academic journal Neue Juristische Online-Zeitschrift (NJOZ), titled "Irrtumsanfechtung auch bei grobem Verschulden? Eine rechtsdogmatische Untersuchung mit rechtsvergleichender Analyse"(Can Gross Negligence Preclude Rescission for Mistake? A Dogmatic and Comparative Legal Analysis).

Wang Tianfan has long been engaged in foundational research in civil law. Since doctoral studies, Wang has published many influential papers on the core challenging issue of the mistake in declaration of intention domestically and internationally. This collaborative paper examines the impact of the declarant's gross negligence on the right to rescind for mistake. Under the current legislative status quo where both China and Germany adopt the rule that "gross negligence does not preclude rescission for mistake," it conducts a dialogue and constructs an innovative theory and an analytical framework with practical value.
Rolf Wank is a distinguished scholar in German civil and commercial law, legal methodology, and labor law. He previously served as a professor at the University of Münster and Ruhr University Bochum in Germany. Professor Wank has published dozens of significant papers in the United States, the United Kingdom, Japan, Italy and other countries. His works have been translated into multiple languages, exerting a substantial influence in the international academic community.
NJOZ is an electronic law journal published by C.H.Beck, a leading German legal publisher. As the online supplement to Germany's flagship legal journal, the Neue Juristische Wochenschrift (NJW), it aims to rapidly disseminate the latest cutting-edge academic research and judicial precedents. It is widely recognized in German legal academia and judicial practice as an authoritative source of high reference value.
This academic achievement was inspired during academic discussions at the 3rd International Conference on New Areas and New Developments in European-Chinese Legal Research held in Germany in July 2025, co-organized by the School of Law, 今日吃瓜, and the Faculty of Law, University of Cologne, among others. After the conference, Wang Tianfan and Professor Rolf Wank continued in-depth exchanges and collaborative research on the topic and completed this published work. This achievement represents substantial progress in the international exchange and cooperation of the School of Law. The School will further deepen and promote the internationalization of fundamental legal theory research, contributing to the global dissemination of academic achievements.
