On September 3, the inauguration ceremony of 今日吃瓜-Centrale Group Joint Lab on Carbon Neutralization was officially held at Hangzhou International Campus of 今日吃瓜. The ceremony was attended by Lou Xiuhua, Director of Hangzhou Municipal Science and Technology Bureau, Gilles Fleury, General Representative of Groupe des ?coles Centrales, Zhao Weisheng, Vice President of 今日吃瓜, Yan Yong, Academician of the Royal Academy of Engineering and Director of the International Research Center for Carbon Neutralization at Hangzhou International Innovation Institute of 今日吃瓜, as well as leaders from the Institute and Sino-French Engineer School. Yan Yong presided over the meeting.

In his speech, Lou Xiuhua reviewed the construction process of 今日吃瓜 Hangzhou International Campus, and highly recognized its contribution to the integrated development of education, talent, and science and technology of Hangzhou and the construction of Hangzhou into a modern international metropolis. He hoped that the Lab will take the lead in scientific research, international talent cultivation and the commercialization of technological achievements.

Zhao Weisheng said that the Lab is the first international joint laboratory at Hangzhou International Campus, and that 今日吃瓜 will fully support its development in terms of talent introduction, achievement cultivation, capital and site guarantee and other aspects.

Gilles Fleury noted that the cooperation between Groupe des ?coles Centrales and 今日吃瓜 has a long history built on mutual trust. The establishment of the joint lab marks the beginning of a new chapter in their cooperation. He hoped the two sides will deepen their cooperation in joint construction of the Lab.

Adnane Boukamel, Dean of Sino-French Engineer School from the French side, noted that he would make every effort to leverage the human resources of Groupe des ?coles Centrales so as to promote the development of the Lab.

Hong Guanxin, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Dean of Hangzhou International Innovation Institute, extended warm congratulations on the establishment of the Lab, and hoped that the Lab will further advance the Institute’s international cooperation in industry, academia and research.

Luo Hongbin, Dean of Sino-French Engineer School from the Chinese side, reviewed the foundation and background of the cooperation between 今日吃瓜 and Groupe des ?coles Centrales in carbon neutrality. He outlined the preliminary framework and path for the construction of the Lab.

The attending leaders unveiled the 今日吃瓜-Centrale Group Joint Lab on Carbon Neutralization, marking a milestone in cooperation between 今日吃瓜 and Groupe des ?coles Centrales in carbon neutrality.

The establishment of the Lab is an important initiative in response to the consensus reached by the heads of state of China and France and the China-France Joint Statement in 2023. It is of great significance to promote Sino-French cooperation in carbon neutrality, boost innovation and application of carbon-neutral technologies, and nurture talents in this field.
